What's Ahead

Welcome to 2016! How exciting it is to turn the calendar page and see a brand new, shining, ready-to-be-filled year ahead of us! I hope you all are ready to step into 2016 with great anticipation of the wonderful (and more-than-we-can-ask-or-imagine!) things the Lord has in store for this year ahead.

General - 2016 "2016"

Here in the YFBC office, the start of a new calendar year comes with great expectation of the summer months and CAMP that will be here before we know it!  Our camp dates are set and applications are open! {find all those details here} It is also time to start thinking about working at camp this summer as a senior counsellor or other senior positions {details here}, as a junior staff member {details here}, or as a volunteer {details here}.  All applications are now up and ready for you to fill in online and send our way.  We look forward to seeing you get involved this summer in our camp program.

I trust that in the year ahead there will be surprises, unexpected blessings, and even some challenges and trials too that are never planned.  But I would love to take a little time now to let you know a few of the things we at YFBC have in store for this great and glorious 2016!

Did you know that the ministry of the Youth Farm has been loving God and loving people since 1941? That’s right friends, 75 years! In 1941, for just 50 cents each, young people gathered their overnight bags and came together on this yard for a weekend retreat, sleeping in the barn haylofts and starting what has now become nine weeks of summer camp and so much more! Here in the office, plans and preparations are being made as we look forward to celebrating 75 years of serving the Lord and serving people in this place. Read some of our history here and we look forward to sharing the details and dates of the upcoming celebrations as they get set in place.

Coming up quickly though, in just less than a week, five of us from YFBC are heading to Israel for nine days to tour the Holy Land.  We have a jam packed schedule outlined and waiting for us.  It’s not a big country but there is so much to see in just over a week.  As we travel to different sights we will be matching them up with stories in the Bible that we have heard since childhood.  It will be an experience that will, without a doubt, impact our lives personally and in our ministry. We know there is great value in this trip and experience that will change the way we read the bible, share the life of Jesus with others and serve at YFBC and beyond. We will also be meeting up with Mike Unger, one of our summer staff who is spending six months volunteering in Israel.  Check back here for blog posts and updates.  Please keep us in your prayers as we travel around the world, around Israel and back again.

Now for a few dates for your calendars!  Coming up are Saturday, February 6th.  Join us at the Youth Farm Bible Camp for a sweet smelling and delicious tasting Cinnamon Bun Fundraiser! Yum!  As we once again prepare to take a team down to Tijuana, Mexico (March 26-April 2) to build a house for a deserving family, we would love to tell you about this trip, what we do, who we serve, and past experiences, all while sharing in fellowship with our supporters. We have a great team of staff, young people, board members, and YFBC supporters joining together for this years trip.  Make sure to come back here to follow our blog while we are away.

Mexico - 2015 Mexico Mission Trip 2

We are also excited to tell you that we are relaunching the Cookbook Fundraiser this year in support of our Mexico Mission Trip! This treasury of beloved home recipes and camp favourites will be available in February for just $10 per copy.  But don’t you worry, we will still be selling our famous cookie dough this February too.

And a second date for your calendar is Tuesday, March 8th, when we will be holding our annual Vereniki and Farmer Sausage supper! (Yum! again.)  This fundraising supper will be held at Rosthern Mennonite Church from 5-7pm and we look forward to seeing you there.

So let me just finish with once again thanking you, our campers, parents, staff, supporters - our friends. For being a part of YFBC’s 2015. Thank you for being here as campers, for volunteering your time, for serving along side us, for giving generous donations, and for encouraging us and praying for us. We look forward to seeing you get involved again as we dive into 2016 here at the Youth Farm Bible Camp, praising the One who is able to do more than we can ask or even imagine.

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.  -Ephesians 3:20-21
