Behold! - Part 1

Summer is in full swing for another amazing camp season here at the Youth Farm Bible Camp! We have been walking through our theme - Behold! as staff and campers but want to encourage you, our extended camp community, to dive into this theme with us. Let me take a minute to introduce the theme here and as we continue through the summer we will continue to post and share with you our journey of seeking the face of our beautiful Lord.

BEHOLD

THE LORD'S CALL FOR US TO STOP. LOOK. LISTEN. FIX OUR EYES UPON JESUS.

When you said, “Seek my face,” my heart said to You, “Your face, O Lord, I shall seek.” - Psalm 27:8

Over and over the Lord approached His people, Israel, saying “Behold!” and followed with a story of His faithfulness or a coming promise. He declared, ‘Look! Don’t miss this!’ and continued this excited urgency through the New Testament accounts and, being the same yesterday, today and forever, calls us to Behold! now in our own relationships with Him, as individuals and as the church. The Lord says to us, “seek my face” and our response needs to be an echo of King David’s, “Lord, Your face I will seek!”. (Psalm 27:8) The promise is clear, those that seek the Lord will find Him. (Matthew 7:7)  At the Youth Farm our hope for this theme Behold! is that we, as individuals and this camp community, would stop, be still, turn our eyes upon Jesus and be amazed at what He has done and what He is doing. How can we reflect the glory of the Lord with our unveiled faces if we don’t turn to look into His beautiful face and behold! We don’t want to miss out on what He is doing in the ‘busy’ of what we are doing. If the Lord says “Behold! I am doing a new thing!”, we want to hear that behold and respond. He is showing His way clearly, and we are sure to see it!

But it is most important in this Behold! theme that we don’t get too focused on the doing of the Lord and remember that seeking His face is looking past the blessings, miracles, and means of the source to the Source Himself. He wasn’t in the wind, the earthquake, or the fire, He was in the gentle whisper - our mighty God uses big and powerful ways to get our attention - BEHOLD! and then as we look at Him in the intimacy of face to face relationship, We lean into a whisper to not only hear the words of the Lord but to also hear His heart.  He is salvation, He is rest, He is wisdom, He is love.

We cannot on our own see spiritual beauty, the Lord has to open our eyes. We believe the Lord is opening our eyes in a new way this summer. With great anticipation this theme is a response to His golden sceptre being stretched out to us as the YFBC community. David ends Psalm 27 saying “Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” Behold! Stand in awe and be amazed! I am confident we will see the goodness of the Lord! We invite you to join us - See He is doing a new thing. We are walking into prepared works. Let’s set ourselves ready to Behold! and come out of this summer reflecting - even more - the glory of the Lord.

Now set your mind & heart to seek the Lord your God.  - 1 Chronicles 22:19
