Joyce Adrian Jumbo Pillow
In memory of Joyce
In 2016 YFBC said good-bye to a dear friend and faithful supporter after a courageous battle with cancer. Joyce's family kindly dedicated memorial donations in her name to the ministry of the Youth Farm Bible Camp. We wanted to use these gifts to help pay for a Jumbo Pillow because of Joyce's continuous desire to have fun, laugh, and play.
Joyce at YFBC
As a child Joyce scurried onto the yard as a camper - ready for the adventure of sleeping in the hayloft. As a young adult she stepped onto the farm as a cabin counsellor - ready for the adventure of caring for campers. As an adult she strode onto the complex as a care aid in the nursing home - ready for the adventure of loving the residents.
The Lord had a ‘more than you can ask or imagine’ plan for Joyce on the yard. In 1971 the Lord called Joyce to start a Bible study group for young women. A small group of six ladies met that first evening and the presence of the Lord was felt mightily in that place. This group quickly saw attendance of 100 young ladies eager to know God better.
Over the next year with wonderful help from her friends, “Truth For Youth” was born. It included Bible studies for young women, another for young men, and joined activity nights. Attendance rose as high as 400 for some events. Joyce enjoyed counselling these young women giving them wisdom and prayer to help them overcome temptations and live a life for Jesus. After a decade of pouring into the young people of the valley area, Joyce knew it was time to pass on the torch of this group but she never stopped pouring into the lives of those around her or the staff and campers at YFBC.
Joyce loved Adult Special Needs camp. While she lived on the yard she attended every hoedown and talent show and one year even invited the whole camp to her birthday party. She had a desire to make others laugh and love them like Jesus. We have been so blessed by the support of Joyce. She will be dearly missed.
