What We Believe

 1. We believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. (Genesis 1:1; Exodus 3:13-14; Hebrews 11:6) We worship the one holy and loving God, who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit eternally. (Exodus 20:1-6, Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

2. We believe Jesus Christ is our personal Savior. (1 Timothy 1:15; Philippians 3:20) He is God.  (John 10:30-33) God came into this world as a baby boy through the virgin Mary. He humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on the cross (Phillipians 2:5-8). He was resurected on the third day, conquering death for all who believe.(1 Corinthians 15:14-19) Jesus is the head of the church. (Ephesians 5:23)The church continues his ministry of mercy, justice, and peace in a broken world.(Colossians 1:15-19)

3. We believe Holy Spirit, the eternal Spirit of God, was in Christ, and empowers the church. (Matthew 12:28; Luke 3:22; 5:17) Holy Spirit is God. (Ephesians 4:4-6) Holy Spirit dwells in all believers. (Ezekiel 36:26-27) When we yield to Spirit, we receive power from Holy Spirit (Micah 3:8).

4. We believe that all scripture is inspired by God and is the fully reliable and trustworthy standard for Christian faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16; Jeremiah 30:2) We cannot live without every word that comes from the mouth of God.  (Matthew 4:4) The Bible is our authority given to us by God. (Luke 21:21-23; 1 Thessalonians 2:13)

5. We confess that sin entered the world when Adam and Eve disobeyed God. (Genesis 3) Because of this sin, all have fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23; 6:23)God offers salvation from sin through Jesus death on the cross.(Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 15:3-6) By his blood shed for us, he took our punishment. (Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 9:14) His death and resurrection cancels our debt of sin and the curse of death and opens the way to new life through the Grace of God. (Ephesians 2:8-9) We choose salvation through believing in Jesus Christ as the Lord of our life. (John 1:12; 3:1-8, 14:6)

6. We believe that Jesus will return to judge the living and the dead. (John 5:28-29)His kingdom will never end.  Those that have faith in Jesus will receive eternal life (heaven), those that do not will receive eternal separation from God (hell). (Romans 2:6-8; Revelation 21:8; Matthew 25:46; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Matthew 7:13-14)

7. The Church is the body used by God to offer salvation through faith in Jesus. The church community proclaims the Kingdom of God and is a foretaste of heaven. (Matthew 6:10)We believe in the priesthood of all believers, all are called to minister in Christ’s Church.(1 Peter 2:9)We believe in the importance of fellowship and community, God’s revelation flows through the church into the world.(1 Corinthians 14; 1 Timothy 3:15; Hebrews 10:24-25; Acts 2:46-47) We believe that baptism is the choice of the individual. (Acts 8:12, 36-38) We believe that Christ calls us to love our enemies at all times. (Matthew 5:44)

8. We believe that God intends human life to begin in families and be blessed through families.(1 Timothy 5:8; Exodus 20:12; Psalm 127:3-5) We believe that marriage is between one man and one woman for life.(Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6) The church is called to strengthen families and encourage reconciliation in times of conflict. (Hebrews 13:4; Ephesians 5:25-33) The church is called to minister with truth and compassion to persons in difficult or compromised family relationships, offering healing and hope. (Colossians 3:12-13)

9. We believe that we are called to Love God with all our hearts, with all our souls, and with all our minds. We are also called to Love People as we love ourselves.  (Matthew 22:37-39; Luke 10:27)
